We have a package deal that we call a “solar system health check”.

We perform a variety of jobs during the health check and one of them is to measure the production of the solar system vs what it was supposed to do when it was first installed and suggest improvements if necessary.

Well, that doesn’t mean that the solar system is only producing half of its rated power, the effect of just a small amount of shade on a solar system can reduce the energy produced to virtually nothing while the solar system is still in shade.

By pruning back surrounding trees, or relocating the panels to get better production from your investment you’ll be better off.

Inverters are also where you can lose a lot of the energy you produce.

Back in the early 2000’s inverters were installed as close to your homes switchboard as the electrician could get them, which wasn’t always the best for the inverter.

If your inverter is the full sun all day long then it’s not producing at its optimum level and won’t last as long as it should.
